Buying or Selling Your Home
Buying or selling the family home is regarded by many as one of the most stressful activities in your life. Advice at an early stage can often save significant cost and avoid unnecessary worry. We strive to make sure that you can access high quality legal advice at the time you need it most, without having to worry about cost. We can assist you in a number of ways and it will not add to the cost of completing the transaction:
Free Initial Interview
If you wish, we will provide you with a free initial interview to discuss your proposed sale or purchase. This interview should ideally take place before you sign an Agreement for Sale and Purchase. If it is at an early stage of your transaction then we can advise you in relation to the possible pitfalls in buying or selling a home. We can also advise you on additional clauses to be included in the Sale and Purchase agreement – once you have signed it is too late.
If you prefer, we can meet with you at your business premises or outside normal business hours or at your home. We realise that taking time off work to see your lawyer can be difficult and add additional cost to the process. We will meet with you at our offices on Saturday morning between 9 am and 12 noon if that is more convenient for you.
No Extra Charges
We will not charge you extra for telephone calls. You will have the added comfort of knowing that you can always seek our advice as the transaction progresses without concern about how much it is going to cost you.
We will provide you with a written estimate of the cost of the transaction and should any additional work be required we will discuss that with you in detail and give you a clear indication of any additional costs. Our prices are based on a straight forward transaction. It may be necessary for us to charge extra for additional documentation such as a guarantee or where there are multiple loan accounts. We will discuss these additional charges with you as soon as the loan documentation is received.
We Minimise Legal Fees
We understand that legal fees represent a significant cost in completing a sale or a purchase and we will do all we can to assist you in such a way as to minimise that cost. Our rates are extremely competitive and we are not constrained by strict adherence to time recording procedures. You will have the assurance that our fees are a fair and reasonable reflection of the actual time taken to complete your work.
We Answer Any Questions
We try to make ourselves readily available should you have any questions. If you prefer, we are always happy to communicate with you by email rather than by letter. If you wish to see copies of all correspondence we will be happy to copy all items to you. If you wish, you can communicate with us by MSN or Yahoo Messenger whenever we are online.
We can assist you with all aspects of your house sale or purchase including negotiations prior to signing the agreement. We are always available to meet with you before you sign to ensure that the agreement reflects your intentions and does not include items that you do not understand or might come as an unpleasant surprise later in the process.
Family Trust
We can assist you with the creation of a family trust to protect your assets. The best time to make that decision is when you are planning to buy a new home. Take advantage of the free initial interview to discuss the merits of buying your new home in the name of your family trust.
Making a Will
We can discuss the making of a will with you as part of the process of buying or selling your home. We do not charge you for making a straight forward will if it is part of sale or purchase transaction.
Resource Management Matters
We can assist with any aspects relating to Resource Management matters including consents and the consent process. We can advise you in relation to planning, environmental and resource management matters.
